Walker joins Syracuse after a three-year stint as an assistant coach at Arizona State University, where she worked under head coach Natasha Adair starting in April 2022. During her time with the Sun Devils, she spearheaded NIL fundraising initiatives that went beyond the ordinary, focusing on targeted outreach and event planning while ensuring full compliance and financial transparency in managing the recruiting budget. Her efforts paid off big time, boosting community support by nearly 50%—a testament to her ability to foster meaningful relationships and drive growth.
But here’s where it gets controversial: Walker’s return to the ACC with Syracuse is being hailed as a ‘full-circle moment’ by her, but some might argue whether her diverse background—spanning ACC student-athlete, corporate professional, and Division I coach—will truly translate into championship-level success in this new role. Before Arizona State, Walker spent five seasons (2017-22) at the University of Delaware as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, again working alongside Adair. Her impact was immediate: in the 2021-22 season, the Blue Hens clinched the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in nearly a decade. As recruiting coordinator, she signed two Top 150 recruits for the 2022-23 season and consistently built championship-caliber rosters of 15 players annually.
And this is the part most people miss: Walker’s focus on post player development transformed Delaware into one of the nation’s elite offensive rebounding teams. Under her guidance, the Blue Hens ranked No. 1 in offensive rebounds per game in 2020-21 and No. 2 overall during her tenure. She also developed two professional players, coached two CAA Players of the Year (2018 and 2022), and produced five First and Second Team All-CAA selections in just four seasons. One of her players even earned the prestigious Dean Ehlers Leadership Award.
Walker’s coaching journey began at Georgetown University, where she served as a graduate assistant coach (2014-16) and assistant director of basketball operations (2016-17). During this time, she juggled team operations, opponent scouting, and pursuing her Master of Professional Studies in Sports Industry Management, which she completed in 2021. Her collegiate basketball career at Wake Forest University (2009-13) further solidified her passion for the sport, where she was a co-captain and part of the winningest class in program history. She also represented the Demon Deacons on the Athletic Director’s Council and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, even helping create the Black and Golden Globe Awards.
In her new role, Walker will be a linchpin of the coaching staff, supporting Coach Jack in areas like scouting, recruiting, former student-athlete engagement, NIL opportunity development, transfer portal management, and institutional fundraising. She’ll also collaborate closely with administration and the NIL department to maximize revenue-sharing opportunities and financial growth.
